COVID-19 Policy for Clients Attending

The Neuro Rehab Practice for Neurological Rehabilitation

Our client’s health, safety and wellbeing are a priority to us particularly during this time.  As a healthcare provider we will remain open at present for essential Neurophysiotherapy services and our services will be guided by our regulatory bodies the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) and Public Health England and the NHS.

Rehabilitation services are deemed essential: They need to continue during a pandemic and after as they are an essential component of high-value care offered for individuals across the lifespan to optimise physical and cognitive functioning to reduce disability, as stated in November 2020, British Medical Journal (BMJ)

Essential services include:

  • According to the CSP Essential rehabilitation for patients, recovering from serious illness or injury must continue to be provided through the pandemic, with services adapting to make this possible.

  • This includes the needs of people recovering from Covid-19 and those whose rehabilitation has been interrupted and whose condition has deteriorated due
to the period of self-isolation and lock down.

  • Acute or severe pain that is preventing you from normal function, work or affecting your sleep pattern.

  • Injuries that, if left untreated could become chronic or develop long term or irreversible changes.

We have followed the advice given and have put the following in place in order to minimise the risk of infection to you attending the clinic:

  • We are risk assessing and screening each client through a telephone consultation to assess the need for a face- to -face appointment or a virtual Telehealth appointment.

  • A Covid-19 risk assessment is sent to the patient to obtain informed consent of the risks involved in this agreeing to a face- to -face appointment.

  • A Covid-19 risk assessment is then sent to be completed by the client on the morning of their appointment prior to being seen.

  • All staff members will also complete a daily Covid-19 screen.

  • All staff have now been vaccinated and are able to access regular testing.

  • All staff wear full PPE

Our advice to you attending the clinic is to follow this guidance and to take the following precautions:

  • All Clients and their carers should attend each appointment wearing your own mask.

  • Wash your hands thoroughly and regularly. When arriving at the clinic we ask that all visitors wash their hands or use the hand sanitiser to keep you and everyone on the premises safe.

  •  Avoid handshaking and maintain the government guidelines on social distancing.

  •  Please to not gather at the doorway of the clinic.

  •  It is not possible to stay in our waiting room.

  •  Cough into your elbow or into a tissue which should be disposed of immediately after use and then use hand sanitiser or wash hands thoroughly

  •  If you are displaying signs of cold, flu or any other symptoms associated with Covid 19 (loss of taste or smell) then DO NOT attend the clinic.

  •  We advise that no more than two people are in the waiting area and treatment rooms of the clinic and that you maintain a safe 2 metre distance others.

  • Our staff and practitioners will also be upholding these precautions, as well as being extra vigilant with hand washing and sanitising the treatment rooms, common areas, door handles and equipment between patients.

  • We may ask your permission to take your temperature prior to your appointment.

If we are advised by Public Health England or our Professional Statutory Bodies to close, or if circumstances mean that we need to close, then we will inform you of this at the earliest opportunity.
